Extension of SFB/TRR 88 3MET for four years

The German Research Foundation (DFG) announced today that the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) Grants Committee decided to extend the Transregional Collaborative Research Center "3MET" (TRR 88) for another four years (2015 to 2018) - after a successful first funding period.

The SFB is a joint research program by chemists and physicist at the University of Kaiserslautern and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) – whereby both sites obtain an equal share of staff and finances. The aim of the collaborative research center is to create novel multinuclear metal complexes and to investigate these with respect to the effects of the metal center coupling on the magnetic, catalytic, and optical properties. The collaborative research center is complemented by a public relations project in which scientific experiments specifically for schools are developed and the involvement of young scientists in the research field of "3MET" will be promoted.

The next four-year funding period of the SFB will prospectively be financed by the DFG with a total of about 10 million euros.
