OPTIMAS at the "LASER World of PHOTONICS 2013" trade fair

Recently, OPTIMAS was presented at the booth of the Photonikzentrum Kaiserslautern (PZKL) to the international expert audience of the Laser World of Photonics trade fair (May 22-25, 2013, Munich).

With more than 1.000 exhibitors from more than 37 countries worldwide, the Laser World of Photonics is the leading trade fair of the laser and photonics industry. Next to laser sources, the focus is on current developments of optical components and materials. Also many technical applications are presented.

OPTIMAS-member PZKL presented new approaches for ultrafast laser pulses and new applications of micro laser material processing. A particular focus was the processing of organic materials (e.g. leather) and carbon fiber composite materials (CFK). Visitors were particulary interested in the fundamental interaction of ultrashort laser pulses with such materials and possible applications. The research on CFK is part of a collaboration with the Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW, Institute for composite materials), a member of the Science Alliance Kaiserslautern and also part of the OPTIMAS network.
