OPTIMAS PhD student Dennis Nenno wins award of the Sparkassen-Stiftung for young scientists

Whether a talent can unfold depends not only on “whether opportunities are offered, but also whether these are taken" said Kai Landes, member of the Board of the Kreissparkasse Kaiserslautern, during the award of the "Kreissparkassen-Stiftung für die Technische Universität Kaiserslautern" on June 13th. "You all showed that you want to be successful with your talents, ideas and concepts", he reaffirmed to the award winners.

At the 33rd prize award ceremony, seven young scientist from the TU Kaiserslautern were awarded with 400€, whose master or diploma thesis were of outstanding quality. Among those seven laureates was Spin+X and OPTIMAS member Dennis Nenno from the department of physics. His thesis focuses on transport theory of hot electrons in metals and ultrafast magnetism. After optical excitation with an ultrashort laser pulse properties of metals, such as magnetism, can be modified or controlled which might for example be helpful for future data storage devices.

Because Dennis Nenno and his supervisor Spin+X PI Prof. Christian Schneider are both on a research visit in Tucson, Arizona, Prof. Rethfeld and Dominik Linzner accepted the prizes at the award ceremony.
